2021 WWE WrestleMania Backlash Predictions, Matches, Map, Start Time, Date, PPV Preview, Location

WWE WrestleMania Backlash departs Sunday from Yuengling Center in Tampa. As the name suggests, the event focuses in part on the fallout from the WrestleMania event in April.

With the final Raw and SmackDown event ahead of the event, WWE confirmed only six fights for the event. Bobby Lashley defends the WWE Championship in a triple threat match against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman, as well as a universal title match between champion Roman Reigns and Cesaro.

WrestleMania Backlash starts at 19:00 ET on Sunday 16 May and a kick-off show one hour before the main ticket at 18:00. The action is sent live on Peacock for both the kickoff and the main card. CBS Sports will be with you all the way on Sunday with live results, highlights and analyzes.

Let’s take a look first at how we believe WrestleMania Backlash will play out this Sunday.

2021 WrestleMania Backlash Predictions

WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman

The inclusion of Strowman offers many outs to keep the issues between Lashley and McIntyre as the focus on Raw, without the one having to get the other one clean. There is not much chance that Strowman will win here and a very big chance that he is the man who eats the pen. It feels like the right time to shift the belt to McIntyre would have been at WrestleMania, where Lashley scored a clean sheet. Lashley wins by pinning Strowman, does not do much to promote any problems with McIntyre, as he is already achieving the beauty victory over McIntyre. What does drive the problems between the two forward is that McIntyre lifts the title by pinning Strowman rather than Lashley. Select: Drew McIntyre wins the title

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley

There is no real drama for who wins here. Bayley had a long run with the SmackDown women’s division before the title was transferred to Sasha Banks and eventually transferred to Belair when Belair Banks beat WrestleMania. Belair’s title reign is not going to end at Backlash, but Bayley gives her a solid, credible opponent to continue to build her own legacy as champion. Select: Bianca Belair retains title

Raw Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair

Similar to the situation with Belair, it simply feels too early to derail Ripley’s title reign. Flair and Asuka have had a lot of time in the sun – although both women obviously have years and years of success ahead – and they need to be in the same role as Bayley against Belair, and just help raise the new champion. This probably does not have to be a triple threat, as the other top title on Raw is also decided in the same game style. Flair probably avoids the woman to take the pen here, unless Alexa Bliss involves herself in the game in some way. Select: Rhea Ripley retains title

Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cesaro

Everyone has been waiting for years to see if Cesaro will finally get ‘his time’ as a world champion and now he is getting an important platform where he has to fight the most dominant champion in the company to reach the mountain top. It’s hard to believe that WWE is actually going to pull the trigger to put on Cesaro, even though it would be an incredible moment. However, if Cesaro wins, it feels like there is a bit more build-up than the Backlash match did. It proposes Reigns to achieve a cheap victory – possibly by the Usos – to drive another month of construction to a second chance. Select: Roman Reigns retains title

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Rey and Dominik Mysterio

The whole selling point of the game is to see if the Mysterios can become the first champion of father and son in WWE history. Few title lines were as memorable as the run-up to Roode and Ziggler, who have defended the titles only twice since winning the belt on January 6th. easy history, with a victory by the Mysterios. Choose: The Mysterios win the titles

Damian Priest vs The Miz

Priest got a boost in profile by beating along with Bad Bunny Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania. Miz does not need a win in this match, where Priest achieves the victory, helps to ensure that he really is a player, except that he is the B-side in a well-known team. Choose: Damien Priest wins
