The Gunners tackle Hibernian and Rangers during their five-day stay north of the border
Nuno Tavares is expected to make his debut at Arsenal this week Mikel Arteta’s team tackles Hibernian in their first pre-season friendship of the summer.
The Gunners left their London Colney training base on Monday morning for a five-day training camp in Scotland.
They will play two matches during their stay north of the border, with a game on Saturday against Rangers following their meeting with Hibernian on Easter Road on Tuesday night.
Arsenal are taking a large group with them to training camp, with several youngsters traveling with the club’s senior players.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both traveled, as did Nicolas Pepe, Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe.
Tavares, whose move from Benfica was confirmed on Saturday, is also with the group and is expected to meet for the first time during the meeting with Hibernian /
Other senior players who have traveled include Hector Bellerin, Cedric Soares, Rob Holding, Sead Kolasinac, Joe Willock, Calum Chambers and Pablo Mari.
Who will not be involved?
Players who were with their national teams during the summer will not be with the group as they have been given extra time to recover.
Bukayo Saka now has three weeks free time after England’s final defeat in Euro 2020, while Kieran Tierney, Bernd Leno, Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira are all still on holiday.
Albert Lokonga, who is close to Arsenal from Anderlecht, his move will not be completed in time to play a role in the Scottish training camp.
The Belgian midfielder has had his medical treatment but now has to undergo a period of isolation due to Covid regulations before completing his transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
When does Arsenal play?
Arsenal have two games during their stay in Scotland.
Their first game is Tuesday night when they tackle Hibernian on Easter Road (18:00 BST / 13:00 ET kick-off).
Arteta’s team will then tackle Rangers on Saturday at Ibrox (14:00 BST / 09:00 ET kick-off) in a match that will help celebrate the Scottish club’s 150th anniversary.
New home set launch
Arsenal will carry the club’s new home set of 2021-22 for the first time against Rangers.
The outfit will be officially unveiled with Adidas on Friday, and the players will then wear it on Ibrox on Saturday.
Arsenal will wear their new outfit during the match with Hibernian on Tuesday.
