Awcon qualifier: Former U19 striker Beckmann receives Ghana call for power play in Nigeria

The former Bayern Munich forward is among 38 players called up in preparation for the qualifying clash with the Super Falcons

Germany-born striker Eunice Beckmann is set to make his debut in Ghana after receiving a call for the Black Queens’ upcoming qualifying Africa Cup of Nations tournament against Nigeria.

The 29-year-old, who is currently in the books of FC Koln, received a second invitation after not responding to a first call in 2016.

The former Bayern Munich forward, born among Ghanaian parents in the German city of Wuppertal, represented her native U19 country.

She is among a group of 38 players announced for the upcoming match in Nigeria, via the Ghana Football Association Official Website on Tuesday.

Ghana captain Elizabeth Addo is also expected to be invited, as well as Djurgardens club mate Portia Boakye and the new Real Betis signing Grace Asantewaa.

Ghana and the cup holders Nigeria will take on the fight in the first qualifying round for the tournament to be hosted by Morocco next year.

The winners will jointly advance to the second round, where the eleven countries that will eventually join the host for the final tournament will be decided.
