Vassilis Spanoulis, the leading scorer in the EuroLeague, retired on Instagram after a 21-year professional career.
“Basketball gave me a unique journey with intense moments and great emotions. It gave me everything and I gave it all,” Spanoulis wrote on Instagram. “Olympiacos was my destination and my most beautiful haven. I leave proud of what has been achieved, but also of what was lost after a hard fight. Above all, I leave full because I played longer than I dreamed.”
The 39-year-old has won the EuroLeague title three times and has been selected to the Final Four MVP each time.
Spanoulis is also in first place in the EuroLeague with assistants, goal goals, free throws and errors.
Spanoulis played 31 games for the Rockets during the 2006-07 season, averaging 2.7 points.
