The director is confident that the 34-year-old will add much-needed experience to their young group
Paulo Maldini, technical director of AC Milan, confirmed that Olivier Giroud will complete a move to the club on Thursday.
The Serie A side reached an agreement with Chelsea on a € 2 million deal for the French goal scorer last week.
The 34-year-old will travel to Milan to undergo a medical examination and is confirmed as the San Siro team’s latest signing.
What was said?
‘Yes, [Giroud] must arrive tomorrow, ‘Maldini said DAZN.
“Olivier is a champion and a new winner of the Champions League.
“He is a very reliable player, which we have been looking for because we need experienced players like him. We are the youngest team in Serie A.”
Milan can score another striker
The club’s summer investment in attack may not end with Giroud’s arrival.
Milan, Maldini legend, wants Milan to add a young striker to the squad before the transfer window ends.
“A young attacker could also get there,” he added.
“The idea is to lay the foundation for the team and then maybe wait for the final phase of the transfer market.”
Will Kessie stay?
There is also speculation about Franck Kessie’s future in Milan.
The midfielder has been linked with Inter, as well as Arsenal and Tottenham in the Premier League.
Kessie has entered into the final year of his contract, but Maldini says the Rossoneri hope to retain him for years to come.
“He will be part of the future of Milan. We are working on its renewal, ‘he said.
