The 21-year-old has signed a permanent four-year deal with Sweden from Moreirense FC
Ghanaian forward Malik Abubakari has completed a transfer to Swedish side Malmo FF.
The 21-year-old was reportedly a target for several clubs in Europe after his impressive performance when he played for Casa Pia in the second division of Portugal on loan from Moreirense in 2020-21.
Abubakari said after signing a four-year deal with Malmo club’s official website: “It feels fantastic. I’m very happy that I signed with Malmö, I know it’s a big club and I see that I have come here now.
“Of course there are many that are new. But I understood that Malmö’s expectations are high, that the club is always on top and often plays in Europe. Now it’s just for me to get started and learn all about the club. ”
Asked how he felt when he found out Malmo was going to his services, Abubakari said: ‘It was a cool feeling I can say! I did not dare it to anyone at first. I knew it was a big club and as soon as I know MFF is interested I want to come here. There was no doubt. And now I belong to the MFF family, this is my new home. ‘
Abubakari also promised his new team more goals as the new season begins.
“It’s hard, but I would say I’m a player fans like,” Abubakari continued.
And then I’m a goal scorer, simple! I will try to help the team in good and difficult times.
“I will have to adapt to the country and the team’s way of playing, because currently everything is new to me, but I am ready to give it my all.”
Regarding his career in Portugal, Abubakari said: ‘For me, it was a great achievement to just come to Portugal. My time there developed me a lot, both as a player and as a person.
“My goal has always been to reach as far as possible, and I fought hard in Ghana and in Portugal to get the chance to play in a club like Malmo.”
During his loan spell at parent club Moreirense, Abubakari has managed to score 20 goals from 55 games over the past two seasons.
