Storm damage delays US Senior Open’s 3rd round in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. A severe overnight storm with damaging winds caused the third round of the US Senior Open to be pushed back by three hours on Saturday.

Winds above 50 km / h knocked over television cameras and trees that crashed at the Omaha Country Club, leaving about 200,000 people across the city without electricity.

Tournament officials announced Friday that the game would begin at 7:15 a.m. CDT, hoping to avoid inclement weather. But heavy rain and strong winds began shortly after midnight, and there was a constant storm threat during the day.

Threes will start on the first and tenth holes when the third round starts at 10:15

Jim Furyk, who shot 6 under 64 on Friday, is the frontrunner, two strokes ahead Stephen Ames. Miguel Angel Jimenez is another shot behind.
