The Dutch international pair are linked with moves to some of the biggest clubs in Europe
PSV head coach Roger Schmidt has admitted that star duo Denzel Dumfries and Donyell Malen are both likely to leave the club soon.
The two both made a big impression with the Netherlands at Euro 2020, which led to interest from all over Europe after they also proved their worth at PSV.
Dumfries has been linked with Inter, Bayern Munich and Everton, while Malen is believed to be on the radar of Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.
What was said?
Talk to General newspaper, Schmidt said of the couple: ‘I no longer expect them to return to De Herdgang [PSV’s training complex]. It was already clear after last season that they wanted to take a step abroad. I still expect it.
“If there is no transfer, we’ll look into it again. It will be a challenge when it comes to fitness. This applies to Dumfries and Malen, but also to Cody Gakpo.
“They will only join later and will now have to stay fit individually. It will obviously be good for us if they are there, then we have more options.”
A duo in demand
Malen has put himself on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe with his goal-scoring performances in the Eredivisie, while scoring double-digit league goals in each of his last three seasons.
The 22-year-old is considered by Dortmund as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho, while Liverpool are apparently hoping to add him as depth for their forward.
Dumfries drew attention to Euro 2020 with the Netherlands and scored two goals in his country’s four matches, while being a constant threat on the right flank.
Inter are considering a move for the 25-year-old star winger Achraf Hakimi about to be sold to PSG.
Dumfries reportedly has a € 15 million (£ 13 million / $ 18 million) release clause in his contract, and is also attracting attention from Bayern and Everton.
