A fan was expelled from the Scottish Open on Friday after removing a club Rory McIlroy‘s bag and some practice swing.

The spectator walked on the tenth tee to McIlroy at the European tournament at The Renaissance Club in Northern Berwick before taking a club out of the pocket of the Northern Irishman.

McIlroy and his boyfriend look confused at the spectator, who was abducted by security shortly afterwards.

A European Tour spokesman told ESPN: “At around 08:00 on Friday morning a spectator entered the tenth tea area. He was quickly escorted by the tea security staff and the matter is now in the hands of Scottish Police . “

McIlroy scored a 70 in the first round of the tournament to take six strokes from the English leader overnight Jack Senior.

The four-time Major winner plays in the 149th Open Championship in Royal St. George’s starting on July 15, with organizers planning to admit 32,000 spectators a day. Last year’s championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
