WATCH: Two cricketers in the West Indies fall on the field during the 2nd T20I against Pakistan Women

In a shocking incident, two West Indian women players Chinelle Henry and Chedean Nation crashed against the field during the second T20 International (T20I) Pakistan Women Friday at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

A Cricket West Indies (CWI) spokesman confirmed that both players were taken to hospital, where they are ‘conscious and stable’.

‘Chinelle Henry and Chedean Nation were taken to hospital for medical treatment. “Both Henry and Nation are conscious and stable in the hospital and are being assessed.” CWI said in a statement.

After the incident, the home team employed two substitutes, and the match continued.

The Windies batted first and placed 125/6 on the board with their wicketkeeper Kycia Knight’s 30 of 20 balls.

For the visitors, Fatima Sana was the choice of the bowlers. She returned with figures of 2/18 in four overs.

While rushing, Pakistan could only score 103/6 in 18 overs before the rain interrupted the proceedings. Nida Dar top scored with 29 off 39 balls. Interestingly, there were as many as five runs in Pakistan’s innings.

The hosts were finally named winners by seven runs based on Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, as the game was affected by weather disruptions.

The victory also inspired women from the West Indies to clinch the series ahead of the third and final T20I. The final match will be played on Sunday (July 4) at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antiguan.

‘It’s not very easy in such circumstances. I’m just glad the team was able to surpass the two ladies who were not with us and we’re just waiting for all the information we can get. They have our full support, and we will ride with them, too. ‘ said WI’s head coach Courtney Walsh as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
