The Connecticut Sun (12-5) claimed their fourth consecutive victory with a 86-80 wins over the Indiana Fever (1-16). This is the 12th consecutive loss for Fever, whose regression is fully displayed this season. Brionna Jones has all the scorers with a career highlight 34 points and seven rebounds added.
The Sun built up an 18-point lead in the half and were never reliably threatened during the second half, although they outscored 43-31. Connecticut was not very strong from the three-point line, just 5-out-20. However, his 55 percent (24-of-43) performance on field goals with 2 points achieved the victory. The Sun paid off the fever when they turned the ball over and scored 25 points on Indiana’s 15 times.
Jonquel Jones scored 19 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and the strength of a 10-out-10 performance from the charity line. DeWanna Bonner rounded out the double-digit scorers for Connecticut with 14 points.
For the fever, Kelsey Mitchell scored 21 points. It was she fifth 20-point game of the season. Tiffany Mitchell added 18 points while Danielle Robinson posted 10 and scored seven assists. The fever shot 48.6 percent, but was only 2-of-9 from outside the arc. They were not nearly as efficient at converting revenue to points as they scored 12 points out of the Sun’s 15 turnover.
The Fever and Sun will be back in action on Saturday at 13:00 ET.
