2021 WWE WrestleMania Backlash Map, Matches, Date, Start Time, Rumors, Predictions, Match Map, Location

It’s time to conclude the book on the 2021 Wrestelmania season. WWE returns to PPV from Tampa this Sunday with Wrestlemania Backlash and a trio of title fights. The PPV event is a recognition of Backlash, which was the first PPV to Wrestlemania from 1999 to 2009. The map is expected to see some reruns of Wrestlemania, as well as some new matches mixed with the potential for lots of fun.

In a major match, Bobby Lashley will put the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman at stake.

WWE WrestleMania Backlash kicks off Sunday, May 16 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa. The main show starts at 19:00 ET and is broadcast live on Peacock, with a kick-off show starting an hour before. Let us now look at the WrestleMania Backlash matches that have been confirmed, as well as to note what else can be added to the match chart on the current map’s television direction.

WWE WrestleMania Backlash Contests

WWE Championship – Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman: Despite a clean sweep by Lashley to kick off the first night of WrestleMania, WWE has announced that they are running back the clash between the two. It was undoubtedly a strange decision, with a McIntyre loss that would apparently guarantee him for the foreseeable future. A McIntyre win would also mean WWE gave him a “WrestleMania moment” in front of a crowd after winning the title in 2020 in the empty Performance Center at WrestleMania 36. McIntyre achieved the second chance with a win over Raw over Randy Orton and Braun Strowman before being attacked by T-Bar and Mace, formerly of Retribution. WWE may have found their lust for Lashley or McIntyre losing the defeat when Strowman beat McIntyre on Raw – with the help of Mace and T-Bar – to turn the game into a triple threat.

Universal Championship – Roman Reigns (c) versus Cesaro: Cesaro posed a challenge to Reigns at SmackDown who was laughed at by the champion before being paired with Jey Uso. Cesaro’s problems with Seth Rollins still hung over his head while Reigns faced and defeated Daniel Bryan. After Reigns defeats Bryan, he forces Cesaro to see to it that he delivers a chairmanship to Bryan. Cesaro finally locked up a chance to challenge the title when he defeated Rollins at SmackDown in a match on the condition that he would get a title shot with a win.

SmackDown Women’s Championship – Bianca Belair (c) against Bayley: After defeating Sasha Banks at WrestleMania to win the title, it looked like a second chance could be possible for Belair at WrestleMania Backlash. Instead, she gets Bayley, the former best friend of Banks. Bayley did nothing of WrestleMania, interrupted different segments behind the scenes or between games and was shy of the Bella Twins. Bayley’s bona fides are definitely decided, as the longest reigning SmackDown women’s champion in WWE history. She will try to regain the title while renewing an old rivalry with Belair, with Belair’s increase in the title.

Raw Women’s Championship – Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair: Flair was a surprising absence from WrestleMania, but once the biggest show on the calendar was in the books, Flair returned and let it be known that she was designing to become champion again. Then she attacked both Asuka and Ripley during the rematch of their WrestleMania showdown on Raw. After it was announced that Ripley would defend the title in a rematch with Asuka, Flair demanded that she may also be in the match, a request granted by Sonya Deville.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship – Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode (c) vs. Dominik & Rey Mysterio: The Mysterios are trying to become the first father and son champion in WWE history when they take on Roode and Ziggler. The champions have yet to have a memorable championship as they have only defended the championships twice since winning the belt in January. The pair also did not appear at a pay-per-view event in 2021.

Damian Priest Vs. The Miz (Lumberjack Match): Priest and Bad Bunny beat Miz and John Morrison on WrestleMania. However, this did not leave the problems between the men in bed, and a match on Raw between Morrison and Priest was determined with the winner setting the terms for Priest vs. Priest. Miz in Backlash had to determine. Priest won the match and chose a Lumberjack match to leave Miz with no way out.
