This is the fourth version of The Match, and as we’ve seen in the past, the clutter is in effect. It’s just an exhibition, but the competitive nature of the athletes ensures good television.
Here are some of the bigger takeaways from The Match and some moments that stood out.
Tom Brady’s Golf Ball
Brady warmed up on the practice field before the game and the cameraman zoomed in on Brady’s golf ball. It is stamped with the seven Super Bowl numbers indicating all seven of its Super Bowl tips.

If it’s not a subtle flex, I do not know what it is. Brady can remind himself on every shot how many rings he has. If he wins more, they may not all fit on one ball.
Mickelson is not interested in football
The exercise series did not talk too much rubbish. It was more small conversations between the players. Since Brady and Rodgers are both participating, football is a topic of discussion.

Mickelson called himself soft and said he did not want to become like Brady and Rodgers. He said he would be done. DeChambeau agreed.
DeChambeau chopped for birds
The first hole looked like it would go Mickelson and Brady’s course as the team hit their ball to the left of the green and watched a long birdie shot. In the modified alternative shot format, Rodgers hit the second shot, after using DeChambeau’s shot, short of the green.

DeChambeau explained his thought process for the subsequent slide through the microphone to the commentators. Then he stepped up and hit it for bird. Mickelson missed his birdie set shot and sank on the first hole.
Rodgers silences Mickelson
It’s known that Mickelson likes to talk about the track and especially in these games. Before the round, Rodgers said he has a strategy for dealing with Mickelson and his trash.

Apparently part of the strategy was to keep Mickelson quiet, as he told Mickelson to be quiet on the first hole and again on the sixth hole.
Get chippy early
The litter box picked up a bit on the second hole because Mickelson had Rodgers place a 4-foot for par instead of giving him the hole.
“We’re not in a hurry,” Mickelson said.
Rodgers did not condone it and mocked Mickelson’s belt spot and sarcastically told him he could probably be bigger.
At the next tea, Mickelson prepared him to strike and Rodgers asked him if he was using a TaylorMade driver. Mickelson is especially on the Callaway list. Rodgers joked that he was happy to have Mickelson as part of the TaylorMade family.
Charles Barkley, part of the commentary team, also sat in the trash after former US President Barack Obama joined the broadcast. Brady said he had very good football matches during his administration, to which Barkley replied: ‘You said his administration was. Whose administration? You’ve been playing a lot. ‘
After the group came to the green, Mickelson missed an eagle shot just to allow the birdie shot. Rodgers and DeChambeau both missed set pieces to lose the hole.
“They probably got hurt inside after that,” Brady said, looking at the television camera. I did not expect to see it. ‘
Mickelson takes a break at DeChambeau
At the game, DeChambeau and Mickelson took subtle shots at each other. DeChambeau jokes about Mickelson’s age and Mickelson says he’s going to surpass DeChambeau.
It transferred to the track after Mickelson drove a ride in the highway with 317 yards of carry. DeChambeau walks over to the tea and hooks his tea-hold into the trees.
Mickelson joked and told DeChambeau that this is what happens when he tries to copy him.
“National TV, a 51-year-old who surpasses you,” Mickelson said. “It’s not OK.”
Unfortunately for DeChambeau, Mickelson also won the long-distance race on the sixth hole par 5. He makes sure he tells DeChambeau how much fun he has.
Brady also performed, saying, “Bryson is the slowest in the group. The only thing slower than him is my 40 (yard dash) time.”
