The Spaniard impressed during a temporary period in San Siro last quarter and will return before the 2021-22 campaign
Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz is set to sign for AC Milan on a two-year loan. Purpose can confirm.
Diaz joined Real from Manchester City in January 2019 for € 17 million (£ 15 million / $ 20 million), ending his three-year stint at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spaniard struggled to break in at the first XI of the Blancos, but the Spanish giants eventually decided to send him out on loan to Milan, where he enjoyed an impressive 2020-21 campaign.
How did Milan Diaz sign again?
Diaz has returned to Real to take part in their latest pre-season preparations, and the 21-year-old is still set to join the Santiago Bernabeu until 2025.
However, he will soon return to San Siro, as Purpose learned that Milan had reached an agreement to hire him for another two years.
The Rossoneri will cover Diaz’s full salary until the end of 2022-23, but no option to buy will be included in the final deal.
The Spaniard international still has ambitions to get the degree at Real, who do not want to sell.
When will the move be announced?
Milan are currently putting the finishing touches on negotiations with Real, and Diaz is expected to be officially launched in San Siro for a second consecutive year by the end of the week.
The loan terms could eventually cost the Rossoneri a total of € 3 million, but the Blancos loanee is keen to return to Milan and head coach Stefano Pioli plans to give him a central role.
Diaz’s record for Milan last quarter
Diaz has scored 39 games in all competitions for Milan this past season and scored seven goals.
The former City forward’s performances have helped Pioli’s side finish second in Serie A and reach the final stages of the Europa League, and they are expected to challenge on several trophy fronts again in the coming campaign.
