Alom player Rashid Khan was appointed by the country’s cricket board as the new captain of the T20I team from Afghanistan. Left-handed batsman Najibullah Zadran will be Rashid’s deputy during the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the UAE from October 17 to November 14.
‘The versatile Rashid Khan has been appointed as the T20I captain of Team Afghanistan. In the meantime, Najibullah Zadran has been appointed as the vice-captain of the National Team for the format, “ The Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a statement.
Rashid, one of the well-known global faces of the game, was selected by senior ACB leadership led by ACB Chairman Farhan Yousefzai for the role considering his experience, brilliant performance as well as leadership skills in the National team by the years. ”
Rashid, who served as captain of Afghanistan in the T20Is and ODIs – winning six of the 16 ODIs in which he led, said he has the honor of serving his country and his team.

Afghanistan will make headlines at the T20 World Cup and have been camped with them In the, England and South Africa in Group B. They will compete with the remaining two teams of the qualifiers.
The 2021 edition of the tournament was recently relocated from India due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
