A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart led the United States to another hard-fought victory at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan on Monday when the team defeated France 93-82.
Wilson’s midfield and innings were phenomenal on the way to 22 points, while Stewart 17 was good with seven rebounds and seven assists.
The US is likely to expect more from Tina Charles in its first two Olympics, given how well she has played in the WNBA this season and Charles has better met his expectations against France with 15 points and five assists. She was 3-of-3 from outside the arc and it seemed like all her points were coming at crucial moments. She scored late points in the first quarter to ensure France led by just three to one, then giving the United States a lead of four, two and ten with her tries. The last two came in the fourth.
