It’s been 15 years since he retired from professional football, but former English international forward Alan Shearer still holds the record for most goals in Premier League history.
The former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers star has scored 260 goals in 441 Premier League appearances in his 18-year career. Apart from being the highest goal scorer of all time, he also has the joint record of scoring the most goals in a single match in the Premier League (five).
Shearer is followed by former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, who has scored 208 goals in 491 games for Everton and the Red Devils. Rooney’s predecessor at Manchester United Andy Cole is the third highest goal scorer with 187 goals in 414 games.
Argentina’s international forward Sergio Aguero, who left Manchester after 10 seasons in 2021 and joined Barcelona, is the fourth highest goal scorer of all time with 184 goals and 275 games for the Cityzens. Aguero also holds the record for most Premier League goals for a single club.
Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane is the only active player to be among the top 10 top scorers with 166 goals. He caught up with former Liverpool forward and current East Bengal coach Robbie Fowler (163) to climb to seventh place last season.
