Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently announced a list of 24 members of centrally contracted cricketers for the 2021 season. BCB introduced a new, format-specific contract system this year, but it does not have a skilled bowler Mustafizur Rahman for the test format.
Despite the fact that Mustafizur was a regular member of the cricket in Bangladesh, he did not get the test contract. Only five players – Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das, Taskin Ahmed and Foreign Islam -has contracts in all forms.
However, it was revealed that the left-arm spacer was not included in the Test contract list, after Mustafizur informed the cricket board of the summit about his unavailability for tests due to a long period of bio-bubbles.
Currently is the 25-year-old plays in the ongoing home T20I series against New Zealand and will be bubbling for another soon for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 which will resume in September. The speedboat will then bring in another bubble for its national team in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.
Chairman of the BCB cricket activities Akram Khan spoke to reporters about the development surrounding Mustafizur’s test contract and said the left-hander is not interested in the red ball format as it is difficult for him to concentrate on tests due to a bio-bubble.
Mustafizur is not currently interested in taking part in tests. He told us that it is difficult for him to concentrate on tests and play it under a bio-bubble, and therefore he does not currently want to participate in tests. We took the decision very positively and discussed it and accepted his request because he is a very important player in the white ball format, ‘ says Akram as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Akram also explained the launch of a new format-wise contract system due to players such as Nasum Ahmed and Shamim Hossain, which is only part of the T20I group and not one-day matches or tests.
‘We have instituted a formal contract because there are cricketers like Nasum and Shamim who are only part of the T20s. If it used to be the white ball that implies ODIs and T20s, but now a new group is emerging that only plays in the T20s, “ Added Akram.
