The Atlas Lion had to be at his best to ensure he prevented Mikel Oyarzabal from finding the back of the net
Morocco’s international Yassine ‘Bono’ Bounou stopped a penalty kick to help Sevilla win a point in a 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad in their La Liga match at Reale Arena in Donostia. San Sebastian.
The penalty kick was taken in the 25th minute when Diego Carlos handled the ball in the danger zone. Initially, referee Antonio Mateu played Lahoz, but after a few seconds, his colleagues advised him to check on the VAR.
After the review, he changed his mind and pointed to the penalty spot. Mikel Oyarzabal acted for the occasion, but the Atlas Lion was well prepared and scored a save to deny the former.
It was an essential rescue that ensured that the Palanganas did not deteriorate against their hosts.
His teammate Youssef En-Nesyri in Morocco was well marked in the first half and could not get a decent opportunity. In the 12th and 14th minute, he was correctly marked as offside after thinking he had beaten the defenders.
The attacker managed to bring in two good crosses into the 18-yard area twice early in the second half, but there was no one to take advantage of.
By the 67th minute, Sevilla had only one attempt on goal, and it was no surprise when En-Nesyri was finally replaced in the 70th minute and Rafa Mir took his place.
After his rescue in the first half, Bono could do nothing more, apart from two weak attempts that he did not struggle.
Sevilla have now collected eight points from the four games they have played this season. They scored two wins and so many draws, while scoring five goals and conceding only one.
Real Sociedad are on 10 points after winning three of their four matches, and the remaining one was a draw. They scored six goals and conceded four.
The next assignment for Sevilla is away to third place, in anticipation of the late match against Real Madrid on Sunday.
