Bryson DeChambeau stays quiet, and he’s likely to miss Rocket Mortgage Classic

DETROIT – Bryson DeChambeau, who is likely to miss the outcome of the Rocket Mortgage Classic after saying goodbye to Tim Cucker before the event, again denied requests to speak to the media on Friday.

DeChambeau, the event’s defending champion, and Tucker decides to take a break and divorced after Wednesday’s pro-am in Detroit.

The two did not specify how long the interruption would last or whether it would be permanent, but DeChambeau’s agent, Brett Falkoff, told Bob Harig, ESPN, that the split does not necessarily mean the two will not work together again.

“They’ve been going their own way for now,” Falkoff told ESPN on Thursday. “It does not mean forever, but it does mean that they do not work together now. They met last night and decided to move on. It’s just a congestion of things, and it’s never easy as a player and a “They just decided the best situation for now was not to be together anymore.”

Tucker bagged DeChambeau in all eight of his victories on the PGA Tour, but Ben Schomin, Cobra Golf’s representative, filled out Thursday and Friday in Detroit.

DeChambeau, who is an ambassador for Rocket Mortgage, shot a 1-under-71 on Friday, which will likely put him below the cut-off line for the weekend. He also declined requests to speak to the media after Thursday’s opening round.
