The Blues are willing to continue with both players before the transfer window, but only if the price is right
Chelsea duo Emerson Palmieri and Kurt Zouma could still leave the club during the summer transfer window amid interest from Lyon and West Ham, Purpose can confirm.
Both players were of great importance at various clubs during the summer, but no agreement was reached.
However, Thomas Tuchel is still eager to cut his team off, and the duo can be continued before the transfer window closes.
What’s the latest on Emerson?
The French team Lyon approached Chelsea with a loan offer that includes an option to buy the left-back.
The Ligue 1 team is looking for a season-long loan deal, with Emerson’s current contract set to expire at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
However, the Blues have an option to check for another year in the 27-year-old’s contract, which means they will hardly allow the defender to leave for free.
Emerson, who was previously under interest from Juventus, Inter and Napoli, currently costs £ 20 million ($ 28 million), although stakeholders expect the number to be negotiable.
The winner of the European Championship spoke about his future ESPN Brazil: “I know it’s not easy, but I’m hungry to play. I want to play, I know I can be on the field, I proved it.
“So I’m going to do everything in my power to be on the field. Of course I still have two years on my contract at Chelsea, which is an excellent club. I’ve already proven I can play here, but at the same time I want to be the field, I want to play, I want to feel important, like I already did.
“I want to have the same feeling I felt when I scored against Atletico Madrid, to have the same feeling when I won the Champions League. And I would really choose the best option. If it stays at Chelsea, or if it happen to be Napoli or another team.
“I still have 25 days to think about it, to be able to choose the best place – where they really want me and where I can be happy.”
What’s the latest on Zouma?
West Ham have reportedly regained their interest in the French international after Tottenham deprived the Hammers of a chance to sign Nikola Milinkovic at Fiorentina.
Chelsea retain a stake in Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and to get Zouma out of their books, a place in the team would be released for his compatriot.
A solid point for West Ham, however, is the appreciation of Zouma for £ 25m ($ 35m) from Zouma, which is beyond what David Moyes’ side is willing to pay.
