The 36-year-old ended his 16-year football career on Monday after leaving Swiss club Lugano in August
Former Chelsea and Senegal striker Demba Ba has announced his retirement from football.
Ba went on social media on Monday to make his decision public, almost a month after he left Swiss Super League club Lugano.
He joined Lugano in June for a free transfer and played just 47 minutes of football before ending his contract, allegedly due to a change of ownership.
Ba, born in France of Senegalese parents, started his career at the French club Rouen and he enjoys a nomadic career in Belgium, Germany, England, Turkey, China and Switzerland.
During his club career, the 36-year-old won the Uefa Europa League with Chelsea in the 2012-13 season, and he won the Turkish Super League title twice with Besiktas and Istanbul Basaksehir in the 2016-17 and 2019-20 seasons respectively.
On the international stage, he played for Senegal between 2007 and 2015 with four goals to his name in 22 matches.

Ba’s longest playing period was at Hoffenheim, where he scored 37 goals in 97 Bundesliga matches before joining England in January 2011 to join West Ham United, but left the Hamers six months later after moving to the. championship penetrated.
Newcastle United immediately moved to him and he made himself a key player at the club with his goal kicks, while in 29 and a half seasons he scored 29 goals in 54 Premier League matches.
In January 2013, Ba joined Roberto Di Matteo’s Chelsea, where he scored 14 goals before switching to Besiktas in June 2014.
