The boss of the Magpies insists that his team’s preparation for the match at Old Trafford was ‘diligent’ despite the international break
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has reacted angrily after being asked if he is going on holiday ahead of his side’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
Some Newcastle fans have expressed their anger over Bruce’s management of the team during the defeat at Old Trafford, while his team continues to disappoint.
The Magpies are still without a win in the Premier League this season and have collected just one point from four games.
What was said?
But Bruce maintained that their preparations for the game against United were at a point when he was asked if he was going on holiday while some players were away on international service.
“Do I really have to answer that for you? Is that what the fans are asking?” Bruce said at a news conference.
“We practiced all week, we were in this day every day.
‘The preparation was meticulous, let me tell you. There is nothing left [that could have been done] in preparation.
What should I do if I have six of them gone? [on international duty].
“The preparation was good. Absolutely good. We were in all week. You could see the game plan we were working on.
‘Answering such questions is typical of the question.
“That’s why [Newcastle fans] is as they are, as you are and your negativity is constantly in your newspaper. “
In what position is Newcastle?
Bruce’s team is currently the second bottom of the Premier League after four weeks.
Newcastle are back in action next Friday when they take on Leeds at home, followed by a trip to Watford a week later.
