ECB nominates County XI group for warm-up match against India

The Indian side led by Virat Kohli will play a three-day warm-up match against a County XI ahead of their five-match Test series against England.

The warm-up game takes place on July 20-22 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street in Durham. The Indian contingent, which three weeks after the WTC’s final loss to New Zealand, reached Durham to play their only practice match before the Test series starting from 4 August.

“Durham Cricket is delighted to announce that Emirates Riverside will host India against a County Championship XI while the tourists prepare for their Test series later against England,” Durham County Cricket Club said in a press release.

They also confirmed that the visitors would use the Riverside Ground to prepare for the first Test against Joe Root & Co.

“The world’s top tournament will use Emirates Riverside as its home ground in preparation for this summer and will be selected on Tuesday, July 20, with a three-day match against a province,” he said. the statement added.

The warm-up match is played behind closed doors, but can be viewed from 11:00 local time and 15:30 IST from the Durham County Cricket Club’s YouTube channel.

Meanwhile Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant tested positive for Covid-19. He did not travel to Durham with the rest of the team for the warm-up match. The Southpaw will remain in isolation before being fit again and later joining the group.
