Spezia play a 2-2 draw with Cagliari during the Serie A clash with Ghana international Emmanuel Gyasi.
The 27-year-old started his team dreaming before Simone Bastoni doubled their advantage. Even with that, the Little Eagles left the Stadio Alberto Picco with just one point.
Undefeated in their last three outings in all competitions, Spezia traveled to Sardinia with the aim of getting a positive result against their hosts who silenced Pisa 3-1 before the start of the 2021-22 campaign.
They lived up to their hopes after taking a seven-minute lead through Gyasi. Assisted by Daniele Verde, the Afrikaans star stunned the home crowd with an excellent attack from outside the box that sailed past goalkeeper Alesio Cragno.
With 28 minutes played, Cagliari had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot flew harmlessly into the side-netting of the goal.
Despite numerous attacking attacks, the hosts could not level matters as they were quiet at halftime with a one-goal deficit.
The second 45 minutes came down on a lightning fast note, but it was Spezia who scored their second goal when Simone Bastoni struck on a beautiful pass from Kelvin Amian.
In the 62nd minute, Joao Pedro reduced the deficit for the Cagliari after chasing past the goalkeeper thanks to a pass from Razvan Marin.
Four minutes later, the return was complete as Pedro completed his prop against the penalty kick after a foul by Leonardo Pavoletti by Zoet in the box.
Towards the end of the game, substitute Samuel Mraz submitted his team – unfortunately – his attempt was dismissed for offside.
The match ended with a no winner, no win note and there were no goals in the remaining minutes of the match.
Gyasi was in action for Thiago Motta’s men from start to finish, as was international Gambia Ebrima Colley
