The federation boss reveals to Goal that they have finally sent down the gold trophy for the current season from Dubai
The Federation of Football-Kenya has confirmed the arrival of the much anticipated gold trophy for the ongoing Premier League season.
When the current season kicks off, the federation has been confirmed by President Nick Mwendwa Purpose they send in a trophy of pure gold which will be awarded to the winning team.
The wait for the trophy continued, with Mwendwa confirming Purpose in a recent interview, the comedy was hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic travel protocols, and there was uncertainty as to whether the winning team would take a trophy when the season ends on August 22nd.
However, Mwendwa has now confirmed this Purpose the 24-carat trophy landed in the country on Wednesday in time for the end of the season.

“The trophy is at home now, it is here and should be a shock to the doubtful Thomas, who thought we were not serious about bringing the gold trophy for the top flight,” Mwendwa said Purpose on Wednesday.
‘It is made purely of gold and we will parade it to the public in due course. We plan to put it live on a local TV station first, and then we plan for the road ahead.
‘The TV show is today [Wednesday], we want the interview to take place during the best time news so that Kenyans can see the trophy themselves before they get the right chance to see it live.
‘We have already discussed KCB Bank and this is where we will keep it [the trophy], it’s round in shape, very good for everyone’s eyes. These are some changes we promised after we took over the league. ”
Apart from the gold trophy, Mwendwa also confirmed that the winner of the league will also take home a cool Ksh5million, while the same amount will be shared between the remaining 17 clubs.
“Winners of the league get Ksh5million, plus the gold trophy, then another Ksh5million is divided among the remaining teams,” Mwendwa continued.
Last season, the league winners, who were Gor Mahia, did not receive a trophy for their achievements after the then league organizers – the Kenyan Premier League – failed to give one after the exit of the title sponsors SportPesa
