From James Anderson to AB de Villiers: Cricket Brotherhood greets Dale Steyn after his retirement

Legendary South African pass bowler Dale Steyn one and all shocked afterwards he announced on Tuesday his sudden retirement from all forms of cricket. The 38-year-old broke the news through his official Twitter handle.

The Phalaborwa Express played 93 Tests, 125 ODIs and 47 T20Is for South Africa, where he scored 439, 194 and 64 wickets respectively. The referee last wore the coveted Proteas jersey in 2020 when he played a T20I against Australia.

As soon as Steyn announced his retirement, many current and former cricketers congratulated him on being an absolute legend during his illustrious international career.

Steyn’s former teammate and probably one of the biggest South African victims AB de Villiers responds to the episode and calls the speedster ‘Great Player’, ‘Great Man’ and ‘Legend Forever’.

‘Fantastic player, wonderful man, wonderful memories! You chose a good song to sign off, my button. Legend forever! ” De Villiers tweeted.

The third highest wicketkeeper in Test cricket, James Anderson, wrote: “The best. (Red heart emojis.)

Former opener in India Virender Sehwag calls Steyn ‘one of the best’ in international cricket.

‘Going well, good man. You were fire, one of the best the game has ever seen, ” Sehwag wrote on Twitter.

Legendary Pakistani bowler Wasim Akram Steyn wishes all the best and writes: “Bittersweet” is the right way to sum up a good fast bowler’s career, @ DaleSteyn62. We have seen a fierce bowler in you, whose bowling will inspire future generations. Congratulations on the wonderful career, friend and best wishes for everything you do in the future. ”
