The international Cote d’Ivoire scored a goal in each half when the Sons of the Gods defeated the Bluefingers
Sebastien Haller found the net twice when Ajax defeated PEC Zwolle 2-0 in the defeat of the Dutch Eredivisie.
The forward scored in each half as the men of Erik ten Hag continued their unbeaten start in the 2021-22 campaign.
Haller competed in the back of his double in Ivory Coast’s 2-1 victory over Cameroon in a 2022 qualifier against Fifa on September 6, 2022.
For Zwolle, they hoped to return to the winning path after successive defeats against Vitesse, NEC and Willem II.
The match started quickly, but both teams could not get the breakthrough before the goal.
Nevertheless, Ajax took the lead in the 29th minute thanks to Haller beating Steven Berghuis’ pass past goalkeeper Kostas Lamprou.
The hosts almost restored parity, though Remko Pasveer called for Slobodan Tedic’s shot.
Seven minutes after the hour mark, the 27-year-old completed his prop. Once again, it was Berghuis who erected it.
The Denmark international of Sierra Leonean descent, Mohamed Daramy, was nominated for Mountain House eight minutes ahead of time, while the Ivory Coast Haller was in action from start to finish, as well as Morocco international Noussair Mazraoui.
Mazraoui’s compatriot Zakaria Labyad was an unused substitute, while Ghana international Mohammed Kudus was ruled out due to an ankle injury.
Although Ajax have been unbeaten last season, they are second in the record and have gained 10 points from all four matches played so far.
They travel to Estadio Jose Alvalade on Wednesday for their Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon.
After the match against the Greens and Whites, they tackle Cambuur in their next league match.
In the AFAS Stadium, the prospect of Nigeria, Noni Madueke, was in action for 55 minutes when PSV Eindhoven silenced AZ Alkmaar 3-0.
Goals from Olivier Boscagli, Yorbe Vertessen and Ritsu Doan drive the Boers past Pascal Jansen’s side.
Madueke was sacked for Bruma, but Ivory Coast’s Ibrahim Sangare was not listed for the match.
PSV – who have won all their matches so far – occupy the top spot with 12 points. They host Feyenoord in their next outing.
