The 22-year-old followed a strong pre-season with a consistent performance in the UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal on Wednesday
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has hinted that Trevoh Chalobah may have forced the club’s plans for this season following his strong performance on Wednesday against Villarreal.
Chalobah started the full game and played when Chelsea defeated the league team in penalty goals in the UEFA Super Cup, which was impressive in the back line of the Blues.
Although Looks like Chalobah would be ready for a loan to Valencia, Tuchel said he may need to be forced to reconsider the 22-year-old.
What was said?
“That’s why he played,” Tuchel said at his post-match press conference when asked if Chalobah was ready to play in the Premier League.
‘He played well against Arsenal and a good game against Bournemouth, then Arsenal, and Tottenham.
“We wanted guys on the fire field who could play 90 minutes. Trevoh was the first in the training session, the very first in the training session and was physically strong and deserved to play through his performances so far, and today he was very strong.
‘He suffered for a few moments, but later with Azpi [Cesar Azpilicueta] next to him and Jorgi [Jorginho] near him and help him in tactical organization, he steps up again.
He never lost face, but remained calm and was physically fit enough to play 120 minutes.
“He has forced our minds. Let’s see how it goes. We still have a few days to determine his personal future, but at the moment he is showing his value to the team.”
Chalobah’s future with Chelsea
After a strong pre-season, Purpose reported this week that Valencia was the frontrunner to sign Chalobah on a season loan.
After Chalobah was loaned out to Lorient outfit last season, Chalobah wanted to make the leap to La Liga for the 2021-22 campaign.
But Chalobah’s performances in the preseason and against Villarreal could possibly cause Tuchel to reconsider his plans.
Regardless of what happens this season, Tuchel has told Chelsea not to sell Chalobah at all costs and is strongly considering a place in his squad next season.
