Lock, stock and walk. ATK Mohun Bagan is ready to fire all firearms in the next issue of the Indian Super League (ISL).
They made the right move in the transfer market with the signing of Finnish midfielder Joni Kauko, Deepak Tangri, Ashutosh Mehta, and with the addition of Hugo Boumous, the writing is clearly on the wall. The Seafarers wants to be the league champion and compete at the highest level in Asia.
The French midfielder has joined the Kolkata team for an undisclosed fee, which is already considered the record of Indian football and that it is expected to be more than INR 2 Crore. He has been one of the best players in the league in ISL for the past few seasons, and like Roy Krishna and Manvir Singh they will rejoice that a player with such creativity is behind him.
What can ATK Mohun Bagan fans expect from Hugo Boumous?
Simply put – an abundance of assistants, and also some goals. His vision of finding out who players are in the attacking third is unmatched, and with people like Krishna and Singh up front, goal shooting should not be a problem for Bagan.
Boumous has played 58 games in ISL so far and has been involved in 42 goals (19 goals and 23 shots).
Who created the most great opportunities in ISL?
Boumous can determine the pace of a match and can control the proceedings with his wide range of passing. He likes to move the ball forward and there are only a few players in ISL who can be as threatening as he is in the attacking third. Since the start of the 2018-19 season, no player has made more help than he has in the league (21), seven more than any other player. 14 of these assistants were from open play.
The two-time ISL Shield winner has also created the most big chances since the 2018-19 season, further increasing his impact in half of the opponents.
Boumous- The difference maker
With Boumous on the field, Mumbai City’s chances of winning a match increased by almost 20 percent.
