The former Germany midfielder is getting closer to fitness, but can not set a date for his return
Toni Kroos says he is still in pain and does not know when he will return to action, as the Real Madrid midfielder is continuing with his recovery from a groin injury.
The former German international has yet to appear this season after suffering the injury during the training season in early August.
The 31-year-old says he is making progress but cannot say with certainty when he will put on a Blancos shirt again.
What did Kroos say?
Kroos presented an update on his recovery on social media with a video in which he does individual workouts.
“I can tell you I feel better,” he said. Twitter. “The truth is, I still can’t do everything without pain. It’s normal with this injury.
“I can not yet say exactly when I will be back, but I work every day to get back as soon as possible.”
The bigger picture
Kroos’ last competitive match was Germany’s last 16 defeat against England during Euro 2020 at Wembley in June. A few days later, he announced his retirement from international football, a move that should benefit Madrid, as he can now focus exclusively on domestic affairs.
However, Madrid still have to benefit from Kroos’ decision, as the former Bayern Munich midfielder has already missed their first three games of the season.
As Luka Modric is also facing a thigh problem, and Martin Odegaard returning to Arsenal manager Carlo Ancelotti, there are not enough options in midfield, with league matches against Celta Vigo and Valencia and a clash with Inter in the upcoming weeks.
