ICC announces winners of the ‘Players of the Month Awards’ for June 2021

On Monday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) the winners of the Awards for Players of the Month for June 2021. These awards give the best performances of both male and female cricketers in all forms of international cricket.

Last week, the ICC shared the list of nominations. In the male category, the race was between New Zealand’s versatile player Kyle Jamieson, kolfster Devon Conway, and South Africa’s wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock.

Similarly, the nominees were in the female category Indian teen sensation Shafali Verma, omnivore Sneh Rana, and England’s star spinner Sophie Ecclestone.

Among men, Kiwi starter Conway won the ‘Player of the Month’ for June 2021 for his impressive performances in the longest format in the recent past. The left-arm batsman scored a double century on his Test debut against England and followed that up with two fifties in his next two games, including in the ICC World Cup (WTC) Final teen In the in Southampton.

In terms of women’s cricket, Ecclestone won the coveted award for her outstanding consistency with the ball against India. In the one-off Test, Ecclestone grabbed an eight-wicket and followed it up with three wickets each in the first two ODIs.

Ecclestone expressed her excitement at winning the special award and said it was nice to be recognized after a great achievement.

‘It’s really nice to win this award. After a period in which we played all three formats, it feels good to get recognition for my achievements in the Test and the white ball series. We were happy as a team with the achievements in this series. We would like to win the test match, but hopefully we can clinch the multi-format series, ” said Ecclestone.
