ICC Women ODI rankings: Mithali Raj returns to first place; Sophie Ecclestone achieved the best position in his career

India Women captain Mithali Raj has her number one position in the last ODI player rankings for women, which by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday. Mithali jumped the South African Lizelle Lee after leading her team in the recently concluded ODI series against three matches England Women.

Mithali showed her top form, scoring 206 runs in three games at a phenomenal average of 103. She batted half a century in all three games.

In the series opener, Mithali hit 72 runs, followed by 59 in the second game. She concludes the series with an unbeaten 75 in the final encounter.

Mithali’s incredible effort from the willow helped her climb seven places to gain the top spot with 762 points. Overall, it was the eighth time in her long international career that she held the number one position.

English spinner Sophie Ecclestone, who finished the series of three matches against India as the highest wicketkeeper (8), won four places to secure her sixth place in the career’s best sixth position Jess Jonassen.

Senior Indian bowler Jhulan Goswami retained her fifth place after taking three wickets in three games against England.

Among other Indian players, young sensation Shafali Verma advanced 49 places to reach the 71st position. Shafali’s scores of 44 and 19 in the last two one – day matches of the series helped her to make a big win in the rankings. On the bowling front, versatile Deepti Sharma moved up one place to 12th place after taking a three-wicket in the third and final game.
