Australian pass bowler Nathan Ellis said he was excited to speak to Indian pass bowler Mohammed Shami in the Punjab Kings camp.
Ellis, who became the first male cricketer to score a hat-trick for T20I last month during his debut against Bangladesh, was signed by the Punjab Kings for the second phase of IPL 2021.
I have not spoken to Mohammed Shami yet, but he was one of my favorite cricketers: Nathan Ellis
Ellis was signed after Australian duo Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson pulled out of the UAE leg of IPL 2021.
Ellis said Shami is one of his favorite cricketers and is looking forward to communicating with him.
‘I’m very excited to speak to Mohammed Shami. “I have not spoken to him yet, but he was one of my favorite cricketers,” Ellis told the news agency PTI.
Playing in IPL is something I dreamed about: Nathan Ellis
The 26-year-old bowler from Tasmania was one of the three reserved players selected in the Australian team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Ellis mentioned that it was his dream to play in the IPL and thanked for the opportunity he got to play for Australia against Bangladesh.
“Playing in IPL is something I dreamed about,” said Nathan Ellis.
‘It’s one of those things you’re dreaming of growing up in, but you know it’s never a reality and it’s never like you’re definitely going to do it. Getting a tour in Australia was a dream come true, ‘he added.
Ellis picked 32 wickets for Hobart Hurricanes from 29 games against an 8.13 economy in the Big Bash League.
Punjab Kings are sixth on the points ladder, having won three of their eight games. They try to win all their remaining matches to book their place in the playoffs.
