England head coach Chris Silverwood said the current Test series between England and India would be one of the fantastic series if they were to be remembered.
England win the third Test in Headingley against India by an innings and 76 runs to make the series 1-1. England bowled out India for 78 in the first innings and took a huge lead of 354 runs to fold the visitors’ second innings at 278 in the first session of day 4.
There is already good cricket on both sides and we know that India is a very good side: Chris Silverwood
Silverwood said both teams have played good cricket in the series so far and called India a challenging team to beat.
“Maybe it’s one of the series we’ll look back on and ‘wow, that was fantastic.’ There has been good cricket on both sides and we know that India is a very good team. “They are difficult to defeat, but what we are showing is that we have to do the class and fit it,” Silverwood told a news conference.
‘We were already behind, trailing 1-0 and coming back to win the series, and we will continue to do so. If we do that, we will see great cricket, ”he added.
Nobody Can Take Joe Root’s Record: Chris Silverwood
After the victory at Headingley, English captain Joe Root surpassed Michael Vaughan to become the most successful Test captain with 27 wins alongside his name. Silverwood applauded Root for returning despite a major defeat at Lord’s and hopes to win the Ashes against Australia in January next year.
‘There is a potential for him to be one of the great English captains. It’s great that Joe has the record, no one can take it away from him, he achieved it. If we win the ashes, we can have this conversation again, ”Silverwood said.
“I think he learns all the time. At Lord’s he reflected on some of the decisions he made, and I too, he learns as he goes on, it’s a great trait for a captain. He can honestly think back on what happened and make a difference, and he definitely made a difference, ‘he added.
England and India play on September 2 in the fourth Test at Kennington Oval in London.
