IPL: Brad Hogg opens for Virat Kohli’s replacement as RCB captain

In an emotional video shared by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on social media, Virat Kohli said he will retire as captain of the franchise after next season IPL 2021.

Kohli also made it clear that he will remain an RCB player until he plays his last IPL match. Kohli’s announcement sent shock waves to his fans and experts.

Last week, Kohli announced that he would step down as India’s T20I captain after the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Talk about RCB’s new leader on his YouTube channel, the former Australian spin bowler Brad Hogg believes that no one from the current group fits the bill.

The Aussie explains: ‘RCB will have to recruit someone to take over the franchise next year. I do not think there will be anyone in their group. AB de Villiers, we do not know how long he will continue. You just do not want someone to go in there and make up the specific space if he will only be there for a short time. “

Hogg further pointed out: ‘If you look at all the successful teams, Rohit Sharma was the head of Mumbai Indians and they achieved a lot of success. MSD (Dhoni) with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as well as with (Stephen) Fleming as coach. They have been at the helm for a very long time. No one in RCB can currently hold the role of captain. ”

RCB is currently in a strong position in the IPL 2021 points table, having won five of their seven matches before the tournament was postponed in May. They will resume the 14th season with a match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday (September 20).
