Klopp doubts that Van Dijk and Gomez are ready for Liverpool’s season opener against Norwich

The Reds boss is delighted to have two proven midfielders back from injury, but their return to competitive action will not be rushed

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that he will not take any risks on the fitness of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, with the defensive duo who are not about to rush into action again before the new Premier League season.

The Reds will open their 2021-22 campaign in the newly promoted Norwich on 14 August, with three more friendly appointments to take before then.
