Liverpool star Salah is a ‘real competitive boy’, says Klopp

The Egyptian international put on an awesome performance when the Reds beat the Canaries in the English tournament on Saturday

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised forward Mohamed Salah and called the Egyptian a ‘really competitive boy’ after his impressive performance against Norwich City.

After setting up Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino, the Afrikaner opened his report on the 2021-22 campaign as the Reds scored a 3-0 victory over Daniel Farke’s men on Carrow Road.

His finish in the 74th minute was a good shot with the left foot from the top of the box, which underwent a slight bend, leaving Tim Krul helpless.

The 29-year-old has now scored in five consecutive Premier League starts and became the first player to reach that point.

Klopp was full of praise for the Egyptian after the match.

‘I would assume he knew about it and wanted to achieve it! Extra motivation! “A very good match,” Klopp told the media, as reported by Liverpool’s official website.

‘If you know about it and you set the first two goals, which is very nice, and after scoring a goal, he tries to find Sadio. [Mane] twice with a pass, so it was really very good.

‘But Mo is Mo, and when the competition starts, he goes into the next gear because he’s a good competitive boy. It’s good to have him! ”

On top of that, Salah now has 10 total goals in matches during the first weekend of the Premier League in his career, with seven goals and three assists.

Only former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, who has eight goals and five assists in Premier League openings, has more.

The two-time Afrikaans player of the year would hope to continue his good condition when Liverpool welcome Burnley in their next match on 21 August at Anfield.

After his good outing in the 2020-21 campaign, the Egyptian was named Player of the Year by Premier League PFA fans.

He scored 22 league goals and set five others, but that was not enough to help the Reds win the league title, after finishing third behind Manchester United and Manchester City.

Since returning from England to AS Roma, Salah has given outstanding performances with which he has won the Premier League Golden Boot twice and the player of the season, including individual honors.
