The midfielder is wanted by the Old Lady and an unnamed Premier League team for his performances at Euro 2020
Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has revealed that his club will soon be in talks with Juventus over the sale of Manuel Locatelli, while acknowledging that the Italian midfielder would like to move to Turin.
Locatelli was one of the stars of Euro 2020 when the Azzurri won the title on penalties over England after an impressive tournament.
And he now plans to join Sassuolo in the Serie A power stations after three years.
What was said?
“Tomorrow we will have direct contact with Juventus for Locatelli,” Carnevali explained Sky Sport on Thursday.
“He wants to join Juve. We would like to sell Manuel to Juve … but they have to pay the right fee.”
Despite Locatelli’s preference, the head of Sassuolo has confirmed that Juve are not the only team interested in his services.
“Arsenal have made an effort to sign him and also a new English club is now in the race,” he added.
Berardi to Leicester?
Locatelli is not the only Sassuolo player who has found himself the summer of transfer speculation.
Teammate Domenico Berardi, a co-winner in Euro 2020, has caught the attention of Premier League team Leicester, but Carnevali is reluctant to leave two of his stars in a single window.
“We want to keep Berardi, he is our top player,” he said.
“If we receive an important bid, we will discuss it and decide with the player. But we will not sell our stars later in August.”
