Lufthansa pilots are set to strike on April 13-14, 2026, disrupting flights across Germany. The strike is expected to begin at 12:01 am on Monday and continue until 11:59 pm on Tuesday, affecting numerous flights nationwide.
Hundreds of flights have already been canceled in anticipation of the strike, with significant impacts reported at Lufthansa hubs in Munich and Frankfurt. At Frankfurt Airport, nearly 75% of some 350 scheduled Lufthansa departures have been canceled.
This latest strike follows a similar one in February, when a one-day walkout grounded Lufthansa flights, resulting in nearly 800 cancellations and affecting about 100,000 passengers. The Cockpit Union has expressed frustration, stating that Lufthansa has shown no willingness to resolve ongoing collective bargaining disputes.
Andreas Pinheiro, a representative of the Cockpit Union, remarked, “The Cockpit Union feels compelled to take this step after the employers showed no discernible willingness to reach a solution in several collective bargaining disputes.” He added that despite a deliberate decision not to strike during the Easter holidays, no serious offers were forthcoming from the airline.
The strike will also impact Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Cityline, and Eurowings, further complicating travel plans for many passengers. Observers are closely monitoring the situation as the strike date approaches, and details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of the disruptions.
