The English U21 international was sent to Carrow Road to continue his development after falling on the steps at Old Trafford.
Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams loaned him out of Norwich City for the duration of the 2021-22 campaign.
Williams initially graduated from United’s senior team in 2019, after spending the previous two years at the club’s academy.
The English U21 international player had a big impact in his first season under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, but fell into the group’s decline last quarter, and it was decided that he should continue his loan development.
What was said?
Williams expressed his joy after being unveiled in Carrow Road on Monday and told Norwich’s official website: ‘It feels very different. This is the first time I’ve ever played at another club, but I’m very excited to get going, meet everyone and get my season going.
‘It’s a massive club and I like the way they play. I have watched them through the years and seen them play. The club likes to play from behind and play football. It really inspired me to come here, and I think the head coach can really improve me as a player.
“Everyone was so welcome. I have really enjoyed my time here and I can not wait to meet everyone. I just feel like it’s going to be a good year. ”
The Canary boss, Daniel Farke, added on the arrival of the 20-year-old: ‘We are very happy that we were able to bring in Brandon. It’s an exciting deal for all parties, and we thank Manchester United for the opportunity to work with Brandon.
“Brandon is a young player full of potential. He has already proved that he can perform at the highest level and that he is capable of playing for Manchester United. He possesses many good skills and qualities.
“We wanted to bring in someone who could play in full-back positions to strengthen our team. Brandon has played a lot in the left-back for Manchester United, but we know he can also play on the right.
‘With Dimitris Giannoulis we had just one natural left-back. For that, it’s good to have Brandon in the building, and hopefully he can help us achieve our goals. ”
Williams’ United record
Williams has so far played in 50 games in all competitions for United, with one goal and three assists. Only four of the outings came in the 2020-21 in the Premier League, and he is currently behind Luke Shaw and Alex Telles in the plans of Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
When could Williams make his debut in Norwich?
Norwich should be back in action on Tuesday in the second round of the EFL Cup against Bournemouth, but the match could come too soon for Wiliams. The United player is likely to be more involved when the Canary Islands resume their Premier League schedule at home in Leicester City four days later.
