Martinelli considers Arsenal ‘one of the best in the world’ despite consistency

The Brazilian forward is looking for the Gunners to burst out of the blocks in 2021-22 and start playing to their full potential

Gabriel Martinelli boldly claimed Arsenal were ‘one of the best in the world’, despite the Gunners still struggling for consistency under Mikel Arteta.

It has become a well-known problem for the North London giants in recent years, with Arsene Wenger and Unai Arteta enduring similar problems during their respective reigns.

However, a young group is being assembled at the Emirates Stadium and 20-year-old Brazilian forward Martinelli is looking for their full potential to be unlocked.

What was said?

The South American tells UOL of his hopes for 2021-22 with niggle bumps are shaken off: ‘I lost about five months due to the injury, but I think in the end we did well. We had one of the best campaigns in the league after Christmas.

‘It’s a new team, with a new coach, but already with experience and that, I consider it one of the best in the world.

“We had good games at the end of the season, the players are confident, that’s why we should try to follow the same path, that’s why we should start the season well.”

Arsenal could only finish eighth in 2020-21, leading to them missing out on European qualification.

However, there are fresh faces in the summer transfer window and expectations remain high.

Martinelli will be after 48 appearances during the past season hoping to be prominent among Arteta in the upcoming campaign.

He has high ambitions, and he hopes that a return to prominence at club level will push him in 2022 in the settlement of the World Cup duty with his country.

Martinelli added, with gold medal glory at Tokyo 2020 currently in his sights: “I’m a Brazilian, and my dream is to play for Brazil, to win titles: Copa America, a World Cup, now the Olympics. I want to win titles in the national team.

“It’s a dream to take part in the Olympic Games for Brazil. We won the last one, so we had the responsibility to play well. I am very proud, honored and I look forward to it.”
