Almost second string English team extended Pakistan by 8 wickets in the first one-day international in Cardiff. Despite not missing the big players, the team put on a professional performance under the guidance of tempo Saqib Mahmood. Then it was Dawid Malan and Zak Crawley, who set up an unbeaten 120-run partnership to help their team win the game in twenty overs. In the process, they take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The second match between the two sides will be played at Lord’s on 10 July. Pakistan must come up with much better performances than in the first one-day match. The second ODI now becomes a must-win for Pakistan to keep the series alive.
In their previous series, they beat South Africa 2-1 and 3-1 in ODIs and T20Is respectively. England recently limed Sri Lanka in the one-day matches and won the T20 series 2-0, before rain washed out the third match. In the ICC ODI Rankings, England is currently placed third, while Pakistan is in sixth place.

England won the match fairly comprehensively against Pakistan. The men in Green were completely outplayed in all sections of the game. It did not look like a second team from England had played the match. With the knowledge of the home conditions and the forerunner in the series, England should also win the second ODI.
