The midfielder will return to Italy after receiving a suspension before the draw with Canada on Sunday
Weston McKennie has been replaced in the US men’s squad for the team’s upcoming World Cup in Honduras after the Juventus midfielder was suspended for violating the Covid protocol.
McKennie was left out of the squad for the USMNT’s 1-1 draw with Canada on Sunday with Gregg Berhalter says after the game that McKennie’s status is in the air.
It has now been confirmed that McKennie will not be traveling to Honduras as he will be replaced by San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Jackson Yueill in the US team.

“Weston will return to Italy and will not be available for the game against Honduras due to the breach of team policy,” Berhalter said.
“There are high expectations for those who are part of the American men’s team, and to be successful, it is important that everyone in the group is responsible.”
Dest also out
In addition to McKennie’s exclusion, US Soccer has also confirmed that Sergino Dest will miss the trip to Honduras.
The fullback is expected to be out of action he suffered a single sprain against Canada.
Dest’s injury comes after US Gio Reyna and Zack Steffen lost at the weekend due to a thigh muscle injury and a positive Covid test.
