Former England captain was not too impressed with the national team’s field performance in the current first Test against India in Nottingham. While England’s bowlers created chances and kept fighting by keeping the lid on runs, they did not seize all the catches. Michael Vaughan tackled his official Twitter handle and invited them to his field academy.
England missed the chance to dismiss KL Rahul after jumping through the middle order on day two before closing. Rahul diverted James Anderson to the slipfield player; Dom Sibley, however, could not hold on, even after getting both hands. On day three, Anderson again created a chance against the same batsman after lunch.
On this occasion, Captain Joe Root wasted another simple attempt, without holding on with both hands. However, it has not become so expensive since the 39-year-old sailor fired Rahul before he reached a century. Nevertheless, the first chance that Rahul dropped could be the turning point of the match. James Anderson’s efforts went in vain several times, allowing the tourists to add valuable runs to their total.
The home team definitely had to be better, as they only managed 183 on the board after winning the toss and batting first. With India’s lead of more than 50, thanks to the standings of 60 runs between KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, England face an uphill task. Michael Vaughan, who regularly trolls opposition players, could not help but take an enthusiasm to his own.
Below is the tweet from Michael Vaughan:
The English team will all receive an invitation to my fieldwork academy … 👍
