The Slovak saved the day for the Brazilians, but the former Amakhosi star is still not convinced by the player
The former wing of Kaizer Chiefs, Junior Khanye, questioned the ability of Pavol Safranko in the attack on Mamelodi Sundowns.
While applauding the 26-year-old for his late strike, which gave Masandawana an equalizer in the 1-1 MTN8 quarter-final, first game against the Golden Arrows, Khanye was still unhappy with the Slovakian’s contribution.
Safranko comes off the bench, replaces Lyle Lakay, and plays the final 18 minutes he played with an important goal five minutes from full-time.
‘Safranko scored, but I want to know what he’s good at, I do not understand. “Yes, he scored and I honor him,” said Khanye. iDiski TV.
‘He is often found in the right place [in terms of positioning] his teammates must find him. They do everything right, Shalulile was not himself today and it happens in football.
“But Safranko, if they put you in, there’s a chance you will not get in other games. We need to know what he is good at.”
It was Safranko’s first goal in Sundowns colors after arriving at Chloorkop in June and he made his fourth appearance for Sundowns in all competitions.
In a rare compliment to the Sundowns coaches, Khanye feels they got it right in their team selection, despite the fact that the team did not win.
“I expected these teams to play similar football, but Sundowns, with their experience, quality and champions, I expected them to have an advantage,” Khanye added.
‘Sundowns played a 3-4-3 system as usual while attacking with the wings Lyle Lakay and Thapelo Morena. Compliment to the coaches of Sundowns, the team they have deployed, has to play out week in and week out. Lebusa and Nascimento were the only players missing.
“Rivaldo [was delivering] lazy passes as usual. Every time Rivaldo was in possession, he looked for Jali who is a box-to-box player. So Mkhulise would get the ball, and you could see that he was rusty, and he only started playing after 30 minutes and he took time to get in the box.
‘The second half was much better for Sundowns and the wind favored them. Sundowns deserve to record the match or even win. Even in the second half you could see that there was a sense of urgency
‘You can see that Sirino is rusty because he does not play regularly, but that he has quality. Arrows defend closer together. Their midfield was too deep with the defense. So I give Sundowns the honor of achieving the goal. ”
Masandawana has missing key players such as Themba Zwane, Mosa Lebusa, Lebohang Maboe, Gift Motupa, Mothobi Mvala and Khuliso Mudau due to injuries.
