Elvira built on an excellent opening round 64 to take a solo lead at Celtic Manor. The 34-year-old made six birdies when he set the half-goal at 11 under.
Elvira led the European tour for most of Friday at the same time as his younger brother, Manuel, was leading the European Challenge Tour. Manuel was later overtaken by France Frederic Lacroix.
“It’s amazing,” Nacho Elvira said. “He’s my brother, he’s ten years younger. He became a pro a few years ago.
“He played great. I saw him start this morning with four birdies in a row and I don’t want to watch anymore.
“It’s great that we’re both under and 11, it’s interesting – it should never have happened before.”
Norrman started shakily and made a mistake and double thug on the top nine, but the Swede picked up the pace at the turn and scored five birdies on the back nine.
Elders, Japan’s Masahiro Kawamura he ran the standings when he mapped 63 on Friday to put three shots back in third place after an opening round 71.
