New Zealand closes their T20 World Cup; Announce their teams for the limited matches against Bangladesh, Pakistan and India

New Zealand selectors have closed its World T20 group which will take place in the UAE later this year. The T20 World Cup would take place in India; however, the BCCI moved it to the UAE along with the second leg of IPL 2021 due to the COVID-19 threat. Along with its T20 World Cup team, New Zealand also announced the team for the white ball matches in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Veteran batsman Ross Taylor did not make the T20 World Cup squad, while versatile Colin de Grandhomme also suffered the same fate. All other players, including Kyle Jamieson, Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, Martin Guptill, made the team. Right-arm man Adam Milne also suffered a nod, named as an injury cover.

The same 15 men also play a T20 series against India before the T20 World Cup. New Zealand’s four-month-long Asian stay begins with the five-match T20I series against Bangladesh, and the team leaves on 23 August. But the Kiwis have selected a separate group for the same and the tour in Pakistan, where Tom Latham will lead. Greg Pocknall travels with them as the head coach for their tours in Bangladesh and Pakistan, while the bowling coach, Shane Jurgensen, later joins the Pakistan T20 series.
