No Issahaku: Anim Cudjoe announces news of new Ghana U20 team

The steadfast teenager is not listed, but the Legon Cities wing is a striking name on the new roster

Africa’s U20 champions Ghana have called up 35 players for the camp ahead of their upcoming international assignments.

The team of coach Abdul Karim Zito has players who played when the Black Satellites won the Africa U20 tournament in Mauritania earlier this year.

Former Bayern Munich veteran Mathew Anim Cudjoe, a member of the triumphant contingent, has been invited to the upcoming match, just like Ofori MacCarthy of Eleven Wonders, Ivan Anokye Mensah of Zalina FC and James Ampofo of Semper FC.

Striking is the prodigy of Steadfast FC Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who played at the tournament as a 16-year-old and still qualifies to appear at the next tournament in 2023.

The striker has recently gained worldwide fame after being linked with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, after seeing a move to German side Bayer Leverkusen.

He was also called up to the Ghana senior team during their last two meetings but has yet to make his debut.

The West Africans will defend their U20 Afcon crown at the next event in Egypt in 2023.
