The 24-year-old Super Eagle has officially made a permanent move to the Greek giants ahead of the new campaign
Olympiacos have announced the signing of striker Henry Onyekuru at Ligue 1 club Monaco.
The Nigerian goal scorer arrived in Greece on Saturday to make a permanent move after being loaned out to Galatasaray last season.
Olympiacos have confirmed the signing of the 24-year-old star social media pages by saying: “Henry Onyekuru, welcome to Olympiacos.”
Another statement reads: Henry Onyekuru in red and white and is now a member of the Olympiacos family.
After joining the team, Onyekuru said: ‘I know it’s a big club in Greece, one of the biggest and they have good ambition and goals every season, and they’re always in the Champions League.
‘I also know of two Nigerians who have played here before, and I’m just here to contribute and keep going, and also to be champions many times, to achieve more goals and objectives with the club.
“I’m glad to hear that and am ready to achieve more with the club.”
Although the Greek giants have not confirmed the duration of the signed contract, it is reported that they have paid € 5 million for the wing of the Super Eagles, who signed a two-year contract.
Onyekuru started his football career at the Aspire Academy in 2010 and studied in 2015 at his partner club, KAS Eupen. He made his debut on 5 September 2015 for Eupen in a 2-2 draw against KFC. Dessel Sport in the Belgian Second Division.
On 30 June 2017, Onyekuru joined the Premier League, Everton, for £ 7 million and was immediately loaned to Anderlecht, where he handed over the number 9 jersey.
He joined Galatasaray later in 2018 for a season-long loan, and he was on the team’s leaderboard when they defeated title challengers İstanbul Basaksehir 2-1 to secure the Super League Championship for the second consecutive season.
Onyekuru, who made his debut for the Super Eagles in a 3-0 friendly win over Togo on June 1, 2017, is part of the key players of head coach Gernot Rohr ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September.
